Carbon analysis

Infrared spectrometry offers a sensitive analytical method to determine various carbon modifications such as

  • Total carbon (TC)
  • Total inorganic carbon (TIC), CO2
  • Total organic carbon (TOC)
  • carbide-bound carbon, free carbon

in highly diverse matrices like, for example, soils and rocks, oxidic raw and processed materials, carbides, and others.

Our test methods for the analysis of carbon

  • DIN ISO 10694:1996-08 - Soil quality - Determination of organic and total carbon after dry combustion (elementary analysis)
  • DIN EN 13137:2001-12 -  Characterization of waste - Determination of total organic carbon (TOC) in waste, sludges and sediments
  • DIN EN 13639:2002-07 - Determination of total organic carbon in limestone
  • DIN EN 13639 Berichtigung 1:2006-09 - Determination of total organic carbon in limestone
  • DIN EN ISO 21068-2:2008-12 - Chemical analysis of silicon-carbide-containing raw materials and refractory products - Part 2: Determination of loss on ignition, total carbon, free carbon and silicon carbide, total and free silica and total and free silicon
  • DIN 51075, Teil 2:1984-03 - Prüfung keramischer Roh- und Werkstoffe, Chemische Analyse von Siliciumcarbid, Direkte Bestimmung von freiem Kohlenstoff
  • DIN 51075, Teil 3:1984-03 - Prüfung keramischer Roh- und Werkstoffe, Chemische Analyse von Siliciumcarbid, Bestimmung des Gehaltes an Gesamtkohlenstoff

Follow-up report: DCONex 2024

In January 2024, the building pollutant experts met again at DCONex. The CRB team was also back at the trade congress and exhibition. This time not only with its own stand but also on stage: Our colleague Dr. Gunnar Ries moderated the lecture block "Current issues in asbestos analysis" and in this session, our laboratory manager Dr. Stefan Pierdzig gave a lecture on the basics of asbestos analysis. ... read more
